Jasper's wild, remote beauty simply and profoundly inspires rejuvenation. Somehow the air feels fresher, the mountains soar higher, and the scenery is almost beyond comprehension. The mind opens up to possibilities here.

Discover the tranquillity of pristine alpine trails, glacier-fed lakes and dramatic canyons, then relax and reflect under a canopy of stars. Unplug to unwind and fully connect with the flawless splendour of Jasper National Park.

Here are some ideas to help you make the most of your wellness-focused getaway in Jasper.

Day One

Afternoon

After entering the national park, continue on past downtown Jasper to the Pyramid Lake Resort. The spectacular chalet-style waterfront property is the pinnacle of perfection. Picture a quintessential Canadian Rockies' scene, complete with a deep blue glacier-fed lake and staggering mountain peaks. All guest rooms and suites were recently reimagined and refreshed with new alpine-chic décor. Splurge for lakefront to take full advantage of the tranquil, picturesque setting.

A hot tub glows blue and purple.

Settle in, then wander down to the water and rent a kayak, canoe or paddleboat from the boathouse. If it's winter, grab some skates and feel the fresh air as you glide across the lake. Let the wellness weekend begin!

Evening

Pick up a picnic basket from the resort's lake view restaurant, The Pines, for a unique dining experience. The decadent takeaway meal comes in a portable picnic backpack and includes a turkey and brie baguette, grapes and cheese, and chocolate-dipped profiteroles.

A group of friends sit at a dinner table next to a large window overlooking a winter landscape.

Then hop in the car and drive to Miette Hot Springs for an alfresco feast and starlit soak. Located in the Fiddle Valley, about an hour from Jasper, Miette is the hottest natural spring in the Canadian Rockies. You'll find a scenic picnic site and several hiking trails in addition to the large outdoor mineral pool.

Big Horn sheep sightings are also a common occurrence in this high alpine region. Given Jasper National Park's Dark Sky Preserve designation, you can expect the stargazing to be out of this world.

Day Two

Morning

Wake-up and prepare for a morning of invigorating adventure at Maligne Canyon. With depths of up to 55 metres, the 1.2 km long limestone canyon is the national park's deepest gorge. Plan to spend two or more hours exploring the 3.4 km canyon loop trail.

Begin at the first bridge and follow the forested path to cross all six bridges. Learn how the water flows 14 km, from Medicine Lake, through an underground cave system. Stop at the third bridge to capture the best view of the dramatic waterfall.

After your hike, stop in at Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen for a rewarding smokehouse BBQ lunch. Go for the 16-hour slow-cooked Alberta beef brisket or a gourmet wood-fired flatbread. You've earned it.

Winter Tip: Discover Maligne Canyon in winter on an Icewalk. You'll explore this maze of fascinating natural ice sculptures, explore the entrance to a cave system and get up close and personal with ice caves, fossils and towering frozen waterfalls.

Afternoon

Drive back to downtown Jasper for some window shopping and to let lunch settle. Then wander over to the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre and relax all of your senses at the Mountain Wellness Day Spa.

Choose a therapeutic treatment, like the hot stone massage, organic facial or detoxifying body wrap. Consider elevating the indulgence with a two-hour Tranquility Deluxe spa package, which combines massage, reflexology and reiki.

Evening

Float over to the hotel's Hearthstone Lounge after your treatment and grab a table by the impressive stone fireplace. The cozy restaurant boasts robust food and wine menus and breathtaking Rocky Mountain views. Food favourites include the salmon wedge salad, jerk chicken and grilled strip loin.

Return to the Pyramid Lake Resort and end your evening with another starlit soak in the outdoor hot tub.

Day Three

Morning

Finish strong and max out the adventure before heading home. First, pop down to The Pines for a classic eggs Benedict or the signature hearty breakfast, with eggs, pancakes bacon, sausage, ham, hash browns and toast.

Work off your food coma, by hiking the 5.6 km Pyramid Lake Loop. Or, rent mountain bikes from the boathouse and explore the comprehensive trail system found on the Pyramid Bench.

Winter Tip: Rent a fat bike and get your heart rate up riding through the forest or rent some snow shoes and take in that crisp Alpine air.
