Kootenay Snowshoeing

Adventure through the Rocky Mountain wilderness this winter on snowshoes with a certified guide. Delight in the chance to search for snowshoe hare, moose, and wolf tracks. Be entertained by the chronicles of Banff’s indigenous people, the explorers and the times gone by of fur trading as your guide presents authentic historical textiles that help decorate the tales of early explorers. Nearing the end of the tour you will be rewarded with hot maple taffy, a unique Canadian treat.

There's two tours to choose from:

  • Snowshoeing to Paint Pots (4 hours): This tour is a splendid introduction to snowshoeing, following a relaxed trail through the Vermillion River Valley to the Paint Pots, a cultural treasure within the National Park.
  • Snowshoeing to Marble Canyon (4 hours): Discover the white dolomite walls of Marble Canyon and learn how the pounding waters of Tokumm Creek forged this fascinating 40 metre limestone gorge. Witness stunning landscapes as you trek through the forest remains that were left standing from the 2003 Kootenay wild fire.
