From beating the crowds to free stuff for kids, bringing the kids to Banff is all about planning ahead.

1. Be Smart and Bundle

Instead of buying all your attraction tickets individually, save money with one of our tailor-made combos. "The Ultimate Explorer Combo bundles together our top attractions—the Banff Gondola, the Columbia Icefield Adventure & Skywalk and the Lake Minnewanka Cruise—so you can save. And, you book more than two days in advance, you'll save even more! Plus, children under five go free. How's that for a family-friendly deal?

2. Be an Earlybird (if you have kids, you probably already are!)

Not a fan of crowds? If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle, the best time to visit our attractions is early in the morning, between 8 AM and 10 AM. First thing in the morning is also a great time to see some of the local wildlife. And even better—visit the Banff Gondola before 10 AM and receive one child admission for free with each regularly-priced adult. All kids are also treated to a junior explorer book that takes them through the mountain experience with fun games and interactive activities for the whole family. What better way to enjoy your morning coffee than taking in Banff’s breathtaking views?

3. Be Adventurous

When it comes to visiting the Rockies, bring your sense of adventure! If you're a real water-lover, why not try a float trip or hire a canoe? You could visit the Cave & Basin, pop into the Banff Upper Hot Springs on your way back from the Gondola or take a short walk down to Bow Falls. From white-knuckle adventures to stroller-friendly nature walks, the possibilities are endless!

4. Be Stylish and Serene

If you’re visiting multiple towns in the area, why not travel between locations on one of our sightseeing tours? With pick-ups and drop-offs available in Calgary, Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper (depending on the tour), you can spend the journey between destinations with ease, hanging out with your kids and learning together. Relaxing and informative, it's the perfect way to travel!

5. Be a Super Parent and Keep the Kids Busy

Finding a holiday destination with something to keep all the family amused can be tricky. Banff has something to offer for all ages. Banff is full of both fun and learning for kids. At the Lake Minnewanka Cruise, kids sail free every day at 3 PM. Plus, they'll pick up tons of cool new learning facts courtesy of our Junior Explorer booklets. The Banff Gondola ride is very popular with young ones and offers an interactive learning centre at the top for all the family to enjoy. There’s a pool at the Sally Borden Fitness and Recreation Complex, outdoor playgrounds located around the town, boat rides, waterfalls and many great hikes and spots for family picnics. Just slot a few of them in to each day!
