So much of the work has already been completed and now the team at the Mount Royal Hotel is putting on the finishing touches. Back-end upgrades to everything from electrical wiring to all-new floors are done. The Mount Royal Hotel, in the heart of Banff, will be reopening its doors on July 1, 2018.
On the building's expansive exterior, a major face lift is complete that will alter the streetscape of Banff Avenue for generations to come. It features a new facade that highlights the uniqueness of each section of the hotel's architecture, ranging from the 1940s to the 1960s. The structure is comprised of four unique building from different decades, each with its own nuances and styles. Through subtle yet meaningful efforts, designers from Dialog have brought the personality back to life.
"In creating a new street facade, I believe the whole street becomes more interesting and more vibrant," says lead designer Lea Lohnes of Dialog. "We believe that by highlighting the differences, and celebrating them, we're really revitalizing the downtown of Banff. It's important."
