A Glacier Experience All to Yourself

After a welcome reception in the Moraine Lounge, your host will escort you to the evening’s first activity—a special Columbia Icefield Adventure. Venture out onto the Athabasca Glacier in a massive Ice Explorer. Then, join your guide for a stroll atop the ice and discover the beauty and immensity of the glacier. It’s intimate and uncrowded. Learn about the history and geology of the region, and enjoy a warm beverage out on the glacier itself.

Navigate the Night Sky

After dinner, step out onto the Viewing Deck in front of the lodge to stand beneath a sky of endless stars and ponder the wonder of life. Explore our galaxy through our telescopes. Our expert interpreters will be on hand to guide you through the stars and constellations.

Dinner at last light, breakfast at first

Our chef crafts Canadian-inspired meals to match your stay at Glacier View Lodge. There’s full table service during dinner and a careful selection of healthy options for breakfast at Altitude Restaurant. Take your time, fuel up, find solitude and admire the views before you venture to the amazing Glacier Skywalk.

Guided tour of the Skywalk

Following a hearty breakfast, you’ll be treated to a private guided tour of the Columbia Icefield Skywalk, a cliff-edged glass-floored walkway rising 280m/918 feet above the Sunwapta Valley. Look out for mountain goats traversing steep cliffs foraging for food. Then, check out of the lodge and continue on your adventure.

Following the Skywalk, we bid farewell. It’s time for you to continue on your adventure down the Icefields Parkway.

About the Columbia Icefield

Straddling the Continental Divide on the border of British Columbia and Alberta, the Columbia Icefield is the Canadian Rockies’ largest, and only tri-continental, icefield. Its meltwaters feed three oceans (Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic). With surrounding mountain peaks reaching up to 3,747 metres/12,293 feet above sea level, the Athabasca Glacier stretches 6 km towards the Icefields Parkway and the Glacier View Lodge.
