Trail Rides

Enjoy the Rocky Mountains from the back of a horse. With stunning views and knowledgeable guides, a horseback trail ride is a great way to spend an hour or an afternoon. Five different trail rides are available:

  • Bow River (1 hour): This one hour trail ride leads you past the Cave and Basin, the original hotsprings of Banff. Your guide will bring you along the Bow River, through the woodlands, and around the marshlands before returning to the Warner Stables.
  • Spray River (1 hour): Experience the beauty of Spray River by horseback on this incredible 1 hour journey. Your guides will take you from the corral, along the winding river and up through the woodland terrain of Sulphur Mountain. Following the route of the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course, you will have an excellent opportunity to spot some wildlife.
  • Sundance Loop (2 hours): Departing from Warner Stables, a local cowboy guide will lead you through the Cave & Basin (Banff's original hot springs) along the Bow River. Fantastic scenery surrounds as you climb up Sulphur Mountain around the Windy Knoll viewpoint. The ride loops around the marsh, bringing you back to Warner Stables.
  • Bow Valley Loop (3 hours): Explore the scenic Sundance Canyon Trail by horseback on this 3 hour excursion. Travel past the Cave and Basin as you make your way to the Windy Knoll. Your local cowboy guide will take you through thick forests before journeying back to Warner's Stables.
  • Sulphur Mountain (3 hours): For those of you looking for a half-day ride that gives a small glimpse of Banff National Park's backcountry, this trail ride is the perfect tour! Ascend Sulphur Mountain and ride past the world famous Rimrock Resort and under the Banff Gondola for some spectacular scenery.
