Craving some good food and some down time on your trip to Jasper? This is the place to relax and indulge. Here's our itinerary for a restful, delicious day packed with local culinary favourites.
Start your day in town with a hearty mountain breakfast at the Chateau Jasper. The menu is extensive and will fuel you up for a day of adventuring.
With a View
If you'd like some quiet solitude with your morning coffee, head to The Pines at Pyramid Lake Resort. From classic omelets and pancakes to smoked trout eggs Benedict, this is a place to relax, enjoy a great meal and watch the day begin.
Brew Pub Lunch
Sunny afternoons call for patio brews. Check out the Jasper Brewing Co. for an Alberta-inspired pub lunch. Cast iron nachos, crispy chicken wings and the classic poutine are prime for sharing. Or, go it alone, with a burger, fried chicken sandwich, elk meatloaf or duck ramen. The drink list is equally impressive, with local beer on tap, BC wine and handcrafted cocktails.
Maligne Canyon, 10–15 min (10.7 km) drive from Jasper
Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen is a must-try while in Jasper. The cozy hideaway, just outside of town, boasts a flavourful, smokehouse menu and the best of barbecue. Think brisket, pork ribs and a sharing platter piled with all the trimmings. Arrive early to explore the trail overlooking the deepest canyon in the Rockies. Be sure to visit the second bridge for epic views of the rushing water.
If you’re still feeling lively, grab a nightcap at the Downstream Lounge in town. Showcasing an extensive cocktail, whisky and microbrew menu, you’ll find a delicious libation to please every palate.
