The weather is warm, the snow is soft and the slopes are still open to ride. Spring in Jasper boasts that quintessential mountain town feel that can’t be replicated. Paired with the perfect spots to ski, stay and après — you won’t want to miss it.

Where to ski

The Rocky Mountains make for an incredible ski and snowboard playground, but there’s something extra special about Jasper National Park in the spring.

You can expect rising temperatures and softer snow from March to May, making for the ideal conditions. Spring snow, with its signature grip and cushion for wipeouts, is excellent for beginners still perfecting their turns. And those expert runs become a little easier when the ice disappears. It’s also the perfect time of year for après — warmer weather and longer days mean sunny patio drinks post-ride.

Marmot Basin is the place to ski and snowboard in Jasper. Located just under 30 minutes from the town of Jasper, you can easily access the hill by car or on the Jasper-Marmot Basin Shuttle, departing from many hotels in town. With the highest base elevation of any ski area in Canada at 1,698 metres, the village might warm up, but the snow sticks around on the mountain for much longer.

Marmot features seven lifts and 91 diverse runs across five mountain faces. The resort is a definite crowd-pleaser, with a relatively even split between novice, intermediate, advanced and expert runs. Whether you’re into a classic groomer or alpine bowls and chutes, you’ll find it here.

Spring Season Events

Jasper Pride & Ski Festival returns to Jasper and Marmot Basin from April 10 to 19, 2026. Find fun things to do all around town and on the slopes, including the annual pride-filled ski parade.

SkiiTour and Corona Canada are turning mid-mountain into a high-altitude dancefloor on April 25, 2026. Don't miss this groove-infused après party, celebrating the final weeks of an epic ski season.

Where to stay

With so much to explore in Jasper, both on and off the hill, you’ll want to stick around for a while. Luckily, there’s no shortage ski-friendly accommodations in and around town.

At Marmot Lodge, you’ll find classic and cozy mountain-style living at a great price. The first-floor rooms with exterior entry make loading and unloading your equipment a breeze. Plus, there’s a basic ski waxing station on-site and a Starbucks across the parking lot for those early mornings. After a long day at Marmot Basin, settle into a soak in either the indoor or outdoor hot tub, or go for a dip in the indoor pool.

For a modern stay steps from downtown, set up your base at The Crimson. Perfect for friends, couples and groups, you can book a standard room or opt for a kitchen suite to really feel at home. Guests can also enjoy a post-slopes swim in the indoor pool or relax in the indoor hot tub on-site.

Where to après

Expect a taste of Jasper when you après at Terra, located just off The Crimson lobby. A seasonally rotating menu means there’s always something new to try, made even better during après-ski happy hour from 5 to 6 p.m. Cozy up by the fire with a drink or grab a spot at the bar.

There’s nothing quite like a pint on the patio after your day on the hill. That’s why you’re sure to find Jasper Brewing Co.'s al fresco tables packed on sunny spring days. Enjoy the local brewery's creations and grab some classic pub fare as you soak up the mountain views.

If you’re serious about a delicious meal for après ski, then Aalto is the place to go. Head up to Pyramid Lake for refined dining with waterfront views. Choose from à la carte dishes or select a delicious prix fixe menu to taste more of what Aalto has to offer.
